NXW #9

19th June 2017

On this edition of Newplex Wrestling, rivalries will reach a boiling point, stars will be born, hearts will be broken, and greatness will be achieved. This edition of Newplex Wrestling will not be like any other, this edition will truly be a Revelation of Gold.

The lights dim, and the music of the ‘Phenomenal One’ begins to play as AJ Styles enters the Newplex Wrestling arena to a warm welcome from the excited fans. One Styles makes it to the ring, a gold light immediate shines upon the stage, and out walks the debuting self-proclaimed “Demigod”, King Baz. The arrogant King Baz enters to a chorus of boos from the fans, as he enters the arena in a shimmering black and gold robe.

The match kicks off with King Baz surprisingly offering a handshake to Styles. AJ goes in to shake his hand but King Baz cheap shots Styles with an open palm strike to the face. Baz quickly scurries to the outside and Styles chases King Baz around the ring.

King Baz jumps back inside the ring, but Styles cuts him off and delivers a thunderous drop kick. Styles grabs King Baz to deliver the ‘Styles Clash’ finisher, but King Baz pushes Styles into the referee and knocks the referee into the turnbuckle. Styles then dodges the attempted strike from King Baz and delivers the ‘Pele Kick’ to the head of Baz which cuts King Baz open.

Styles rolls to the apron, and attempts the ‘Phenomenal Forearm’, but King Baz slips out of the way. King Baz then capitalises on the situation and delivers a ‘Future Shock’ DDT. The cowardly – but intelligent – King Baz takes advantage of the referee being knocked down, grabs a steel chair, and continuously smashes Styles with the chair before the referee gets back up. King Baz throws the chair out of the ring, and pins Styles; 1… 2… 3!

Next up, the team of EC3, Tryda, and a partner of their choosing will battle the team of Alberto Del Rio, Tyson Kidd, and the ‘Iron Bulldog’ Davey Boy Jr.

As the team of Del Rio, Kidd, and Davey Boy step onto the stage, boos from the Newplex crowd in attendance echo around the arena.

EC3 comes out next, quickly followed by Tryda. Both men enter to a great reaction from the fans, anxious to see Tryda and EC3 get their revenge on Del Rio. Silence then spreads throughout the arena, as the fans await the arrival of their mystery partner…

The Newplex fans erupt at the arrival of ‘Lionheart’ Chris Jericho, who enters ring to stand side by side with EC3 and Tryda.

The match explodes in the closing moments. EC3 cuts off Del Rio’s attempted crossbody on Tryda and delivers the TK3 to Del Rio. Kidd tags in, but Jericho cuts him off with the codebreaker. Jericho delivers a flying forearm to Bulldog, knocking him to the ground below. Tryda marches over to Kidd, and locks in the ‘Rogue Blade’ submission.

Kidd gives up, tapping the mat – pleading for mercy.

The team of EC3, the ‘Technical Assassin”, and “Lionheart” Chris Jericho stand tall in victory.

After EC3, Tryda, and Jericho leave the ring, the lights suddenly go out. A few anxious moments later, they come back on, and a hooded figure has appeared in the ring.

The hooded figure introduces himself as the “Chosen One”, the man that was referenced by another hooded figure many episodes ago. The “Chosen One” claims he will carry out what is expected of him, and bring darkness to Newplex Wrestling. The lights go out once again. When the light is restored, the “Chosen One” is nowhere to be seen.

After the match, backstage reporter Scott Hall enters the Newplex ring. Scott Hall welcomes the World Class Wrestling (WCW) heavyweight champion, the “Prodigy” Dolph Ziggler to the ring.

However, Ziggler is not the only champion from another company being welcomed to ‘Revelations of Gold’. Scott Hall then brings out the ECW World Heavyweight Champion, the undefeated Goldberg to the ring.

Hall announces, “at the next Newplex Wrestling PPV, it will be Dolph Ziggler vs Goldberg vs the winner of tomorrow night’s RISE championship battle royal, in the first ever ‘League of Champions’ ladder match. In the coming weeks, each champion will defend their championship to prove they are worthy of being a ‘League of Champions’ contender. Good luck champions!”

After Scott Hall’s huge announcement, Ziggler arrogantly taunts Goldberg. Goldberg replies with a devastating spear. Then, he raises his ECW championship high above his head, and stands over the fallen Ziggler.

Next up, is a match that everyone has been desperate to see. Kurt Angle will battle the man that has tormented him for weeks, Deathstrike. If Deathstrike can defeat Angle, he will be awarded a Newplex World Championship match.

The lights fade as Deathstrike makes his way through the crowd towards the ring, as the crowd shifts uncomfortably.

Red, white, and blue then flashes throughout the arena as the General Manager, and former Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring. Angle sports Newplex Wrestling’s colours, with the Newplex logo on his knee pad and singlet.

Angle shows no hesitation as he fires into action. He demonstrates his talent, out wrestling Deathstrike from the get-go. Angle delivers multiple German suplexes, but is unable to pin Deathstrike.

Angle attempts an ‘Angle Slam’, but Deathstrike slips out and delivers a huge German suplex of his own. Angle immediately grabs his surgically repaired neck, and looks to be in a bad way. Angle tries to get back on the offense, but is met by a devastating roundhouse kick.

Deathstrike capitalises on the injury, and locks in a ‘Dragon Sleeper’. Angle tries to fight out, but the pressure on his neck causes him to give up. Deathstrike is awarded the victory by submission, and is announced as the new number one contender for the world championship.

The next match is the main event. Three men will collide, one champion will be crowned. Jads enters first to a huge ovation from the Newplex Wrestling crowd. Next out is Kenny Omega, who also receives a great reaction from the crowd. Out last comes the Newplex World Champion, the ‘”American Nightmare”, Cody Rhodes.

Rhodes, who is entering without his fellow Bullet Club members, looks in the camera, and says “tonight I prove I’m the best”.

Things get extreme midway through the match, as Omega brings a ladder into the ring before getting launched into the solid steel ladder himself. The “Rising Star” Jads then attempts to use the ladder again. The crowd begin to rise as Jads scales the ladder, perhaps to attempt a high flying manoeuvre. However, Cody pushes the ladder over, and Jads falls to floor outside the ring.

Cody beats down Omega in the ring, taunting him as he does. Rhodes grabs Omega by the hair, and yells “you were always the weak link!” Omega, noticeably groggy, looks up at Cody, and tells him to “SUCK IT!” while performing the signature DX crotch chop.

Cody attempts his ‘Cross Rhodes’ signature manoeuvre, but Omega slips out and delivers a head-shattering super kick to Cody. Before Omega can capitalise, Jads soars through the air from out of nowhere, delivering a springboard ‘Starstruck’ to Omega.

Jads covers Omega, and the referee counts 3. Jads, is crowned the new Newplex Wrestling World Champion. Jads, full with joy, proudly lifts the championship high above his head.

After a tremendous first season of Newplex Wrestling, what can be expected of Season 2? When will Deathstrike invoke his championship opportunity? What’s next for the “Demigod” King Baz? And, how will Jads fare as the new Newplex World Champion? Find out, in Season 2.
