A man once said, “to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man”. Eight gladiators will complete tonight in the first ever episode of Newplex Wrestling, in a tournament to find out who is the best, who is the man, and who deserves to be the first ever Newplex Champion!
The lights go out and darkness clouds the arena. A green beam of light illuminates the awaiting crowd. At the stop of the stage, The Punisher rises. JOPO makes a slow, steady walk to the ring. Showing no emotion, he stares blankly at the anticipating crowd as he awaits his first round opponent.
Quickly, the mood of the arena lightens up as “The Bearded Brute”, Trent Seven makes his entrance.
After a grueling back and forth contest, it took two thunderous jumping knee strikes and a huge electric chair German suplex from JOPO to beat Trent Seven.
Time for the second match of this first round – and it’s “The American Nightmare”, Cody, taking on the youngest member of the Newplex Wrestling roster; Tyler Bate! The arena goes dark, and after a long pause the music hits, “Bullet Club, 4… 4… 4 lifeeeee.”
Immediately after the bell rings, Cody cheap shots Tyler Bate. He quickly executes his‘Cross Rhodes’ finishing maneuver and pins Tyler Bate in quick succession. With that, Cody moves on to the next round.
The next match of the first-round tournament will feature a battle between “The Big Guy”, Ryback and the fastest rising star in this company, Jads.
Jads makes his way to the ring, with a raucous reaction from the Newplex Wrestling fans echoing throughout the arena.
“The Big Guy”, Ryback marches down to the ring. “FEED ME MORE CHANTS” erupt throughout the arena. There’s a sportsmanly shows of respect from both Ryback and Jads, and with that – the match begins!
In perhaps the moment of the night so far, Ryback’s top rope splash is caught with a midair RKO from Jads.
Following an impactful mid-air RKO, Jads pins Ryback and moves on to the second round.
And now for the final first-round match! We’ve got an epic confrontation between two former world champions. Alberto Del Rio will battle EC3 to determine the final competitor in the semi-finals. The hushed crowd erupt for the arrival of “The Pride of Mexico”, Albertooooooooo Del Rioooooo!
The ovation continues as Newplex Wrestling fans welcome the arrival of ‘The Ass Kicking Machine”, EC3!
The win is awarded to Del Rio following an extremely dangerous apron DDT in which EC3 suffers an awful neck injury and is unable to complete the match.
