Honestly, where would we be without NXT?
Another NXT TakeOver, another damn near flawless show. I don’t care how cliche it is to say, the NXT TakeOver events are the best thing going in all of pro wrestling today, and by some margin.
It’s nearly 4AM here, and although I told myself I’d only watch 30 mins of TakeOver live, I was kept glued to the screen all night by another outstanding performance from the ever-enigmatic Valveteen Dream, and an absolute slobberknocker from Pete Dunne and Walter for the UK title.
Every match was awesome, but I’m compelled to give a special shout-out to the main event: a two out of three falls match for the vacant NXT Championship between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole (bay bay).
Dressed in gear inspired by Iron Man, Gargano’s choice of wardrobe couldn’t have been more fitting. The match had Marvel blockbuster levels of drama, jaw-dropping action sequences, and some genuinely gasp-worthy twists.
Both Gargano and Cole put on an unequivocal master class, and have added to the ever-growing list of sensational NXT TakeOver main events.
Why every WWE PPV isn’t to this standard is the subject for another blog, but for right this moment, I’m am just so thankful for NXT.
What a fantastic way to kick off this WrestleMania 35 weekend.
