Fresh Friday Throwback

So just like that, Friday has rolled round once again – another week conquered. For this Fresh Music Friday, we are taking our metaphorical musical TARDIS into the past.

This playlist is centred around the 70s and 80s. Being a big fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, and the soundtracks of both of them, I was inspired to try and find some old gems which people have definitely heard and some that may haven’t been.

The aim was to keep a wider variety of genres as possible, from soul to rock to what would be the beginning of pop, all the while keeping that retro theme.

Some may be considered guilty pleasures as well… you’ve got to have a few.

Big hitters include ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” because you just got to if you’re inspired by the Guardians, as well as a little bit of Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.

To smooth the senses a little, Marvin Gaye and Dusty Springfield in as well, with their classic songs.

So whether you are at home relaxing, finishing up your first week of school and studies or you are putting in that one final shift, turn the playlist up and take in some tunes from yesteryear.
